Precious White Truffle

Peridium: Smooth, ocra or olive yellow, sometimes even gray-greenish. 

 

Gleba: White, of marbled appearance. As it grows older it develops reddish stains on a gray background. 

 

Shape and Dimension: Roundish and regular, if grown in loose grounds, lumpy and irregular if grown in more compact soil. Its dimensions don’t, in any way, affect the quality, since they’re only responsible for the appearance and can vary from those of a walnut to those of big orange. 

 

Scent: Intense aromas that resemble the smell of honey, hay, wet soil and spices. 

 

Ripening Season: From the end of Summer through the end of Winter. 

 

Picking Season: It can only be picked from September 10 to December 31. 

 

Additional Information: If grown in presence of a particular plant, the Rosehip, the Tuber Magnatum Pico’s gleba can develops a darker, reddish tint and an even more intense aroma. Those characteristics make this extremely rare combination an exceptional find.
